Proposed New Feature: Random Events

So here I return with the older idea of creating random events.
Note that this is something that will happen. The time it will
happen depends on how much feedback I receive concerning
the events.

Here is how it will work:
-The random event will be created during your login. At first
there will be one random event per day but there can be none.
In fact the chance to get a random event will be dependable of
many factors. (No activity factors included though, trying 100
logins will NOT increase your chances to get a random event. All
your chances will be calculated in your first login after every daily
update).

-Users will be then feeded with a random event. An example is:
"You found a box outside your house, what will you do ?"
This event will be generated in the main page and will stay there
till you give a respond.

-Then user will pick the respond. In the example above, some
responds could be:
-Yes!
-No!
-Uhm, pay $1000 to someone walking by, to open it.

Now, depending on the answer, you will set the chances for the outcome.
There will be NO STABLE outcome for ANY event. There will not even be
STABLE answers to have higher success chances (this though may not be
able to be done to ALL cases).

So here are some example outcomes:
*User picks YES!
->User because of X factor, gets +20% success
->User rolls a 100d dice (always a 100d dice will be rolled - 100d means
that you roll a dice with 100 possible outcomes: 1-100)
-Depending on the roll dice, there comes the outcome which can be a
stable reward or a specific item, or a random item, etc.
-The outcome will be generated immediately, alongside with reward
or penalty.

We speak of a big feature here, that will affect gameplay. All events will
be such so that factor playing role will have immediate relation with your
character moves so far. For example, if you are have had a BIG cut expense
last day, you will get a chance to get some cash back. Or if you failed that
crime for one more time, you will get even a turn or 2 back.

The potential is non-limited. Events will be roleplayed into the general
Booty Master enviroment and will general give to the game, rather than limiting.

What I need from the playerbase to make this happen is feedback with
ideas, suggestions, event ideas, etc.

The event creation management will be like the crime is now, meaning
that it will be easy for the administrator to add new events, edit existing
ones etc. I am also thinking to link events to crimes.

Like many of you already know, my philosophy is against PURE LUCK in
anything, so even though events will include luck, there will be also game
elements included. For example, if you get a event like:
"Your friend Jack asked you to fix his pc" and you select "Sure I will fix it"
while you got no computers specialty, well, you can understand that you will fail:
"Your friend Jack was not happy at all for destroying his computer! He will now
not be able to chat with all his recent victims! As a result, he chopped some of
your fingers, so you will be more cautious in the future! (-10% health)"

Now a much more organized version of the random events i suggested. Plus it gives the element of suprise and the be also based in what specialties a player has. Too bad there isn't a world wide trigger event. but its still nice having random events

i really like this idea...gives an edge to the game and makes it interesting. and it seems to be very organize as well

i will focus on your last paragraph revenger. i am against pure luck too.
if you manage to connect each player's gameplay with these events, then it will be a very good idea.
for example, if i fail to bribe alicia, some agents could make an investigation to my house (-20% wanted).
if i am being robbed 3-4 days in a row, police would be more careful (+20% detection).
generally staff like this.
I won't like to see, you received a box, you opened it, and you found a trip to the moon inside it!
Another idea is to make general events, applying to all players (someone has referred that before).
For example, someone tried to shoot president Revenger, agents are investigating many suspects (wanted for all players -30%).

you mentioned until you click it, it will remain flashing on your main page.

what happens if you choose not to click it?? will the events build up?

Now that's also a nice idea. Accumulated events? hmm... I think in order not to abused the random events, one event is good for one day. If its not clicked on the day the event was published then it shouldn't be able to build up. Kinda like a phone call if not answered or not returned within a day then your friend gets neglected and negating the chance of boosting your stats or having a penalty for it.

Also this question would be asked. If I won't do the event would I have the penalty imposed on me or would it just mean that I didn't do the event so "no harm no foul"?

This feature will not be an addon, it will be a main feature. This means you will HAVE to respond to it. We speak of a big feature that will need much efford to be created so it will play the role it deserves in the game.

In case you fail to respond it within 2 daily updates ( since the events will be created on LOGINS it will be like impossible to miss it but we got to make sure no one gets away with any tweaking on this), a random answer will be picked for you.

Global events will be included.
Some events that will include some ammount of luck will be included too. But do not worry, these events will not play such an important role.

Of course there will be security precautions on this. Every event will have a set number on how many times it can appear to each user. And as it is now, I cannot see getting any more than 1 event per day. It is more than enough.

Finally, this feature will be tested extensively before released. And it will be released only when we will have plenty of events. An luxurious number would be 200 events but even around 60-80 could do the trick for the beginning.

This feature will most probably be the main feature created just after the contracts one, which I hope to release in [PLANNED DAY OF COMPLETION REMOVED]. Note that these things need time though and I cannot work on it more than several hours per day, so be a bit patient.

I think I would like to see the horse race betting magazine fixed first.

This sounds a bit complicated to create. From an organizational standpoint it might be a bad idea to start another feature so soon after contracts come into play. Let the game balance out again after contracts and then consider another major feature.

You have some right in it. Although we will need much feedback for random events to be created (I am looking to get like 25% of them contributed from the users) before this can be created.

So it seems to let anyone know, so they can think and contribute.
